The Faculty Development Academy (FDA) of CHAKRA undertakes high-impact faculty development initiatives under four domains aimed at strengthening academic leadership, educational innovation, research capacity, and governance competencies among faculty of Medical and Health Sciences colleges. These initiatives are aligned with national priorities in health professions education, competency-based curricula, innovation, and evidence-informed policy and practice. These programs are progressively designed at four levels with increasing levels of proficiency for the learners.

Planned Programmes for the coming Quarter:

Workshop on Healthcare Innovations

This workshop will orient faculty members to emerging innovations in healthcare delivery, education, and technology. Emphasis will be placed on problem identification, design thinking, frugal innovations, and translation of ideas into scalable and contextually relevant solutions within the Indian healthcare system.

Advanced Workshop on Designing and Implementing Competency-Based Assessment

Intended for faculty with prior exposure to competency-based education, this advanced workshop will focus on assessment blueprinting, workplace-based assessment tools, OSCE/OSPE design, development of rubrics, programmatic assessment, effective feedback mechanisms, and use of portfolios to ensure valid, reliable, and learner-centred assessment systems.

Workshop on Research Proposal Development (in collaboration with INCLEN)

Conducted jointly with INCLEN, this programme aims to build faculty capacity in developing high-quality research proposals. Participants will receive structured guidance on formulation of research questions, study design, budgeting, ethical considerations, and alignment with priorities of national and international funding agencies, with the objective of improving grant success rates and strengthening institutional research output.

Level 3 – Advanced Professional Development Programme (APDP)

This flagship programme is designed for Professors and Associate Professors with over 15 years of academic experience. The Level 3 APDP will focus on advanced academic leadership, institutional governance, mentoring and faculty succession planning, change management, quality assurance, and strategic leadership in health sciences education.

  • Workshop on Health Economics

    To enhance understanding of economic principles relevant to healthcare decision-making, policy formulation, and resource optimisation.

  • Workshop on Administrative Skills

    Focusing on academic administration, regulatory frameworks, institutional processes, and leadership effectiveness in higher education.

  • Workshop on Gamification

    Aimed at introducing faculty to the principles and application of gamification strategies to enhance learner engagement, motivation, and outcomes in health professions education.

DIGITAL HEALTH CERTIFICATIONS

Certificate Course in Digital Health (CCDH)

The Certificate Course in Digital Health (CCDH) is a six-month, blended learning programme offered by Centre for Health, Applied Knowledge and Research Autonomy (CHAKRA). The learning model of the course combines recorded expert lectures, live online academic sessions, and structured in-person engagement.

  • Curriculum covers health informatics, health data management, AI and ML, EHR, telemedicine, cybersecurity, and emerging digital health applications
  • Delivered through e-Prabodhini LMS, comprising 780 learning hours across four modules
  • Includes two in-person contact programmes (3 days each) for experiential learning
  • Open to health science graduates, healthcare practitioners, administrators, and public health professionals
  • Upon completion: 25 credit points and a Certificate by CHAKRA

Digital Health Foundation Course (DHFC)

The Digital Health Foundation Course (DHFC) is India's first structured foundation-level programme in Digital Health, conceptualised and delivered by MUHS–CHAKRA with the support of the Koita Foundation. The course has been designed in close collaboration with nationally renowned subject matter experts.

Digital Health Foundation Course- Nursing (DHFC-N)

The Digital Health Foundation Course for Nurses (DHFC-N) is designed to empower nursing students and in-service nurses with future-ready digital skills and comprehensive knowledge of digital health technologies. As the backbone of healthcare delivery in India, with over 36 lakh nurses across the country, nurses are uniquely positioned to drive the adoption of digital health solutions at all levels of care.

  • Introduces fundamentals of digital health and familiarises with HMIS, EMR, Telenursing, and ABDM
  • Mapped with Nursing Informatics & Technology textbooks used by Nursing colleges
  • 12 modules with recorded lectures, reading materials, pre-test, post assessment, and assignment
  • Practical Digital Health Virtual Lab for hands-on experience

Target Audience: BSc and MSc nursing students, Nursing faculty, practicing nurses, GNMs, and ANMs

Credits: 2 credit points and a certificate from MUHS upon completion

SIMULATION LAB PROGRAMS

Skill Development Workshops for Healthcare Professionals

The Simulation Lab organizes specialized workshops aimed at faculty, undergraduate and postgraduate students, as well as nurses. These sessions focus on training participants in critical clinical skills necessary for effective patient care and healthcare delivery.

Community Training for Life-Saving Skills

In addition to professional training, the Simulation Lab conducts workshops for members of civil society. These workshops teach essential life-saving techniques such as Compression Only Life Support (COLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). The initiative helps prepare community members to respond to emergencies, particularly during large-scale events like the Kumbh Mela scheduled for 2027.

Educational Resources and Research

The Simulation Lab is actively involved in original research through various research programs. Looking ahead, the lab plans to host its inaugural annual Simulation Workshop during 2027-28, further enhancing its role in simulation-based education and research.

CLINICAL TRIALS & RESEARCH GRANT PROGRAM

CHAKRA's Clinical Trial Unit (CTU) administers a Research Seed Grant program designed to support innovative research projects across interdisciplinary studies, translational research, medical science, allied health sciences, and integrative medicine.

Annual Projects: 8 to 10 research projects
